What is Apple-cider-vinegar products?

In plain words

Apple cider vinegar is made by fermenting apples and is sold as a liquid, pills, or gummies. The body breaks down its main acid into a substance it can use for energy. Researchers study whether it affects blood sugar after meals or body weight, but evidence for lasting benefits is limited, especially for gummies. Its acid can irritate the digestive tract and damage tooth enamel.

Technical definition

Apple-cider-vinegar products are fermented apple-derived preparations containing acetic acid and variable amounts of other organic acids and plant compounds; formulations include liquids, capsules, and gummies. Acetic acid is absorbed as acetate and metabolized through normal energy pathways; proposed effects on post-meal glycemia involve delayed gastric emptying and altered carbohydrate handling rather than a single established receptor target. These products are marketed as foods or dietary supplements, not FDA-approved treatments for diabetes or weight loss.
