What is Trace-mineral blends?
In plain words
Trace-mineral blends combine minerals that the body needs in tiny amounts. After absorption, the body uses them to help process food, protect cells, and make certain hormones. Researchers study mineral intake for preventing deficiencies and supporting normal body functions, but benefits from blends depend on their contents and a person's nutrient levels. Too much of some minerals can be harmful.
Technical definition
Trace-mineral blends are mixtures of mineral elements required in small amounts, such as zinc, copper, selenium, iodine, and manganese; their chemical forms and proportions vary by product. They have no single molecular target: absorbed elements support enzyme activity, antioxidant defenses, and thyroid hormone synthesis, depending on the mineral. In the United States, products marketed as dietary supplements do not undergo FDA premarket approval for safety or effectiveness.
